Victory Shall Be Mine!!

Sorry this is soo late in posting, we actually did this work about a week and a half ago. Between retreats for work and little side trips (see below), posting things online has taken a back seat.

When we bought our house, we had visions of selling the wooden playground in the back corner of our yard ... until we realized most of it was rotten. Then the plan changed to tearing it down at some point.

One of our neighbors is re-framing some rooms in their basement and said if we needed to get rid of any wood, they'd have a trailer that would be going to a dump site and to load it up. The catch - the trailer would be here tomorrow for a few days.

So .... it's 104 outside (with a heat index somewhere near 112), Rog is at work and I'm determined to demolish as much of this p.o.s. in our yard as possible. Taking down the top portion wasn't too bad with the help of a hammer and some other tools I found in the basement. Until I got to the platform part and the slide. All of the bolts were rusted and down below is an overgrown peppermint patch which I learned attracts all sorts of bees.

I was proud to have ripped down the sizeable pile to the right all by myself...

After Rog got home, we used some power tools to get all but the 4x4 posts and the base knocked out before it got dark. The next night, when it was even hotter, we wrapped up the whole project...but still no trailer at the neighbors.

The trailer got here late last week, and is as big as the back end of the truck but has no sides. If we put our junk in there, the neighbors will have no room. So ... now that we hauled ass to get this thing down, it's sitting in a pile in the backyard. Lovely.
