No, there wasn't another big storm that came through over the weekend. We decided it was time to finally take control of each every one of our 13 trees and a completely overgrown burning bush. Apparently the people who lived here before us really enjoyed nature and hadn't invested in a lopper or hedge shears. Hopefully the long weekend doesn't push back our day for pickup, or the mail man might not be too happy.

Welcome to the Jungle!
We also made a quick trip home on Sunday night to celebrate Brian's 30th birthday with a bonfire at the Manci hacienda. We took a "before" picture, but forgot the "after" shot.

Our Latest Project
When we bought our house, we planned on EVENTUALLY replacing the front door. One of our priorities after closing was to change the locks, that's when we found out that our front door was rigged and the hole drilled for the knob was too far over for the new one.
So for the last two months, the old door has been secured with just a deadbolt. As of last week the new door was delivered and installed. and we even found two days in a row when it wasn't raining to put some paint on it.
While it rained for what felt like 40 days and 40 nights - and the Missouri River 1.5 miles from our house breached its leavees - we took advantage of our time indoors by painting the family room.
Happy (Belated) Mother's Day
So we planned on posting these on or just after Mother's Day ... BUT we still had the cord for our camera packed and couldn't quite remember where we'd stashed the box it was in :).
Here are some pics of us with our moms from our last trip home.

Wine Country
Last weekend Heidi and Tim came to help us decorate and select paint for our living room and office.
After we were done working, we took a short drive down Rt. 94 on a sunny Sunday afternoon to wine country - specifically Sugar Creek Winery. Heidi and Tim had never been to a winery before, but seemed to enjoy themselves sampling the wines and sipping a few glasses in the sun while enjoying some live Buffett-esque music.
Rog's boss hooked us up with some tickets to the Cardinals game against the Cubs on Sunday night, which was our planned desitnation after the winery. Unfortunately, we're waiting to find out when the game will be rescheduled. Figures that we'd have good (and free) tickets on the day that baseball stopped in St. Louis.
