How Could I Forget?? More Bunnies!

I totally forgot to add some of the "best of" pictures from the past two weekends helping out Dream's rescue group with Easter Bunny pictures. Rather than post all of the ones I like, I've narrowed it to just two.

We took a bunch of pictures each day, and surprisingly, the majority of the dogs who came for pictures weren't greyhounds. We'll take their sitting fee money anyway :). It was kind of funny, like kids, a few dogs really did not like the bunny. No crying that I could tell but definitely some growling going on.

And no, neither one of us was the bunny.

Bunnies, Birds and Blue Suede Shoes??

Having worked at a school now for just about 11 months, I can tell you first-hand that it definitely has its ups and downs. Right now is a big up, I actually get a few days off since it's Holy Week. But this is on the heels of almost 2 weeks solid of meetings and events.

The most chaotic event of the past 2 weeks, by far, was our annual alumni children's Easter egg hunt last Sunday. We had just over 500 people there, pure madness!! AND not just one, but twin bunnies!

Earlier in the week, the dads hosted a different type of fundraiser, an Elvis impersonator. Needless to say, we were the youngest in the crowd! Between this and the egg hunt, I've realized how much of a trooper Rog really is.

But our business wasn't entirely work related. Last Sunday caught up with the Redbird women's basketball team and watched them win the Valley championship game and earn a spot in the NCAA tournament. They played the tournament this year at an arena that's about 3 miles from our house, doesn't get much more convenient than that. For as much as I liked my old job, it's much more fun being in the crowd than working these kind of events... but then again I don't have the "in" with Reggie for a picture.

Finally, Finally, Finally!!!

It is with great joy, relief and excitment that I type this post. At approximately 8:39 p.m. Monday evening, an ordinance we've been working on to pass through City Council since November 19 FINALLY received a vote and passed!!!

After spending what seemed like umpteen Monday nights at City Hall until well after 11 p.m., the stars finally aligned and our bill came up for a vote. The Council members approved our plans for our stadium and applauded all of the hard work we'd committed to getting all of the neighbors on board with the proposal. Now we can finally start moving some dirt!

Disclaimer: This is the happy, happy, joy, joy version of the story. Things were not pretty for quite a while but thought I'd spare the grisly details.

Can't Beat a 2-Hour (10 Mile) Ride Home

After topping out at 78 degrees on Sunday, getting drilled with sleet yesterday, we managed to pile up a record-setting snowfall in St. Louis today. Making it even more special, it also marked hte most snow days the school where I work has taken in recent memory (4).

I got a call at 5 a.m to notify the masses of the snow day, even though there was no snow on the ground or in the air at that point. That changed rather quickly. By 10 a.m. we had 4" of snow at school, and when I decided to try to drive myself and 2 co-workers with "summer rides" home at 1:15 we had a white out (see picture from the intersection by school) and about 11" on the ground. Turns out that's a record for March in the STL.

Fortunately where we live, and therefore have to shovel, ONLY got 7.5." Dream had a good time running around in it for about 5 minutes - losing 2 boots in the process, but decided she was ready to go in right after her few quick laps around the yard. Can't say I blame her, winter sucks!!

And Another One...

Ok... seriously. I am really beginning to buy into the notion that there really is something in the water, and it's not limited to one particular area either. Now the number of pregnant friends I have is up to six. Add Jackie and Snahel to the list, which now spans across Illinois, Missouri, Texas and Colorado. I'll stick to my mixers, thank you very much.
