Our Columbus Day weekend project that "won't be too bad" and "shouldn't take too long" lasted all day. And that was just for what I'm calling Phase I of the project. My phase, Phase II, the priming and painting of the new pillar and rails - was done in just over a day.
Rather than matching the paint with the color that is on the rest of the pillars, we decided to re-paint everything in the white that we used around the front door. Nice idea at the time. Key phrase being at the time.
Turns out there are 8 coats of paint (no joke) on the old railings and pillars. Even the paint stripper Rog is using isn't doing the trick. It's quite a slow, monotenous process that I hope we can knock out before winter!
And of course I've failed to take a picture of the new railings and reconstructed pillars, but I'm sure you get the jest of it.
