Our "Quick" Trip Meeting The Dog

Rog & I did a mini-road trip and hit the big city of Festus ... which is right around the corner from Hoosierville.

After 45 miles worth of traffic and time in the truck (this is a truck-driving kinda town), we found the Wal-Mart (of all places) where Dog and Beth were signing books. When we left St. Charles, we figured there'd by a few hundred people there to meet them and that we'd have time to stop by this really good restaurant on the way home for dinner.
Were we wrong. After getting there at 5:30 and waiting in a line with probably 2,000 people we finally got our books signed by the guest of honor ... at 9:30. It was hot - thankfully we were out of the 100 streak we had going - we starving and the place we wanted to eat had closed. As two of the few normal people in line, it made for some great people-watching to pass the time.

We were told no personal pictures, which kinda bummed me out. When we finally got up there, there was a lull in the line when I was right in front of Dog. He started to small talk and I told him we were going to be him and Beth for Halloween last year. He looked at Roger and said "This guy??" and laughed a bit before saying "that's awesome."

And yes, they really do look like they do on TV up close. Check out Beth's shoes, I couldn't handle standing on them for hours at a time!
